Applications Now Open for the Transformative 2026 QCoal Foundation Scholarship
The QCoal Foundation Scholarship, which has invested over $320,000 in Queensland’s future regional workforce, is now open for its 11th annual round of applications.
The scholarship awards a James Cook University (JCU) student $10,000 per year for three years, helping to cover the costs of studying. Over the past 10 years, students from disciplines including Medicine, Dentistry, Geology, Speech Pathology, Education and Veterinary Science have benefited.
Ashlee Browning, a first-year Geology student and the 2025 scholarship recipient, expressed her gratitude for the support. Moving from the farming town of Tolga on the Atherton Tablelands to Townsville, the scholarship eased her transition and allowed her to focus on her studies.
Passionate about regional communities, Ashlee encourages future applicants to seize this amazing opportunity and apply!
QCoal Foundation CEO Sylvia Bhatia emphasised the scholarship’s life-changing impact, particularly for students who need to relocate to pursue their studies.
Applications close 16 January 2026. Head here to apply!
