Wheels Up! New RFDS Aeromedical Training Academy Takes Off
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has launched its new Aeromedical Training Academy in Bundaberg, marking a significant milestone for Queensland’s healthcare. This state-of-the-art facility features the only Beechcraft King Air Full-Flight Simulator in Australia, offering advanced training opportunities for both RFDS and non-RFDS pilots.
Jointly funded by the Australian Government, QCoal Foundation, and Bundaberg Regional Council, the $25.3 million project aims to enhance emergency healthcare in rural and remote areas. QCoal Foundation proudly contributed $3 million, reinforcing our commitment to building resilient regional and remote Queensland communities.
RFDS CEO, Meredith Staib, expressed gratitude to the project’s supporters, emphasising the importance of this milestone as the RFDS approaches its 100th anniversary. QCoal Foundation Chair, Christopher Wallin, highlighted the long-term operational benefits of the academy, while Bundaberg Mayor, Helen Blackburn, welcomed the economic boost it brings to the region.
This facility strengthens Bundaberg’s position as a hub for healthcare innovation, and we congratulate all involved in bringing this project to life.
