Building resilient regional and remote Queensland communities.
The RFDS Aeromedical Training Academy
Further extending its long-standing relationship with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section), QCoal Foundation has successfully partnered to facilitate the construction and operation of the RFDS Aeromedical Training Academy in Bundaberg.
QCoal Foundation committed $3 million to the partnership, which now services the training needs of the RFDS and creates a sustainable commercial opportunity for the RFDS moving forward.
The world-class facility, costing $25.3 million, was supported by the QCoal Foundation, the Commonwealth Government, and Bundaberg Regional Council.
Constructed next to the existing RFDS Bundaberg Base, the academy houses one of the world’s only Beechcraft King Air B360 flight training simulators.
In addition to supporting the introduction of the B360 Beechcraft King Air aircraft into the Queensland fleet of the RFDS, the training centre is attracting pilots from across Australia and Asia, contributing to economic diversification for the Bundaberg region and providing a new revenue stream for the RFDS.
This partnership aligns with the QCoal Foundation’s mission of building resilient regional and remote Queensland communities through the pillars of health, education, and liveability.
