Applications Now Open for Life-Changing Scholarship

The QCoal Foundation Scholarship, which has provided nearly $300,000 to support Queensland’s future regional tertiary workforce, is now open for its 10th annual round of applications.

The scholarship awards a James Cook University (JCU) student $10,000 per year for three years, helping to cover the costs of studying. Over the past 10 years, students from disciplines such as Medicine, Dentistry, Geology, Speech Pathology, and Veterinary Science have benefited.

Taylor Dockerty, a first-year Speech Pathology student and 2024 scholarship recipient, expressed her gratitude for the financial support. Moving from Emerald to Townsville, she said the scholarship eased her transition and allowed her to focus on her studies.

Taylor, who hopes to work in a remote community after graduation, encouraged future applicants to be confident and apply.

QCoal Foundation CEO Sylvia Bhatia highlighted the scholarship’s life-changing impact, especially for students needing to relocate for their studies.

Applications close 10 January 2025. Head here to apply!
