Building resilient regional and remote Queensland communities.
Our Stories
15 for 15 – $15,000 Investment to Celebrate 15 Years of Grantmaking
For 15 years, QCoal Foundation has proudly supported regional and remote Queensland communities through the QCoal Foundation Community Grant Program. Through our grantmaking, we work alongside local organisations to deliver projects that strengthen health, education and liveability across regional and remote Queensland. To celebrate this milestone, we are launching 15 for 15.
“To celebrate 15 years of grantmaking, QCoal Foundation is investing $15,000 into regional and remote Queensland’s top three community-identified needs.”
Community Voice at the Centre
At QCoal Foundation, we believe that communities know best what they need to thrive and build resilience. That’s why we’ve designed our grant application forms to gather local knowledge and insights to form our community voice data, revealing the most pressing needs for each applicant’s regional community. In 2025, our community voice data revealed the top three community-identified needs for regional and remote Queensland were:
- Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
- Youth Services and Development
- Domestic and Family Violence
The belief in the importance of local voices is not only evident in the Foundation’s grantmaking but is embedded into the heart of QCoal Foundation’s approach to philanthropy through their use of the social venture model.
15 for 15
In recognition of local priorities and in celebration of 15 years of grantmaking, 15 for 15 will see QCoal Foundation invest $15,000 across outstanding community organisations working in these areas. Three organisations will each receive a $5,000 grant to strengthen an existing program or launch a new initiative targeting one of the top community needs.
We look forward to amplifying the excellence which already exists in the regions and recognising those who are committed to building resilience within their communities.
QCoal Foundation CEO, Sylvia Bhatia, shared,
“To celebrate 15 years of supporting community organisations through our grantmaking, we wanted to honour the voices that have guided us. 15 for 15 reflects our commitment to building resilient regional and remote Queensland communities and we are pleased to invest $15,000 into the areas they have identified as most critical.”
