    • Growing up in Moranbah, Mistrel is a testament to the far-reaching impact of educational support for students from regional and remote communities. With the support of the QCoal Foundation Scholarship, she was able to focus fully on her studies and embrace every opportunity. In 2025, she is living and working in Western Australia supporting regional mining activity through her employment at Lynas Rare Earths.

Reflecting on the scholarship’s impact, Mistrel describes the incredible domino effect the scholarship had on her life:

“Having $10,000 a year to fall back on was incredibly impactful for me. I didn’t have to work as much and could focus on university, which meant better grades, which meant more opportunities, which meant I got into the BHP graduate program. So instrumental in everything really!”

With the help of the QCoal Foundation Scholarship, Mistrel took up the opportunity to further enriched her knowledge and skillset by going on exchange to Norway, an unforgettable experience! Now, working in the rare earth industry, Mistrel recognises how vital the scholarship was in shaping her career path.

“It’s so instrumental in where I am today and the success that I’ve achieved,” she shared.

“Had I not had that support, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am.”

Mistrel’s journey demonstrates how targeted support can open doors to life-changing experiences and career-defining opportunities. From Moranbah to Perth, her story is one of resilience, ambition, and gratitude. We’re proud to recognise Mistrel’s achievements and look forward to seeing what her future holds.
