RFDS celebrates 90th Birthday and the Dental Service gets a gift
From humble beginnings with a single leased plane in 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in May celebrated its 90th birthday. As one of the world’s most comprehensive aeromedical organisations, the RFDS shares the values of the QCoal Foundation in recognising the importance of providing invaluable frontline services to rural and remote Queensland, and Australia.
The QCoal Foundation has a long and strong relationship with this iconic service as Founding Donor of the RFDS Dental Service. In addition, the Foundation’s Founding Donor QCoal Group is a Principal Partner with the RFDS Qld Section.
The Board and staff of the QCoal Foundation recognise the essential services the RFDS provide and congratulates them on 90 years of support to rural and remote Queensland communities.
The Foundation also congratulates the RFDS on securing ongoing Commonwealth Government funding for the RFDS Dental Service. Based on the outcomes of the then-named QCoal Community Dental Service, the Commonwealth Government committed to funding frontline dental services nationwide in 2017 and that has now been extended to 2022. This is wonderful news for all of the 21 communities on the previous Dental Service route and for all of those additional centres who are looking to utilise those services.
